Determine the best target heart rate zone for your exercise regimen.
If you are in good health or a beginner or intermediate exerciser, burn fat between 60% and 70% of your maximum heart rate. If you are in good aerobic shape and can be considered an advanced exerciser, you can select a target heart rate zone between 70% and 85% of your maximum heart rate.
Note that these are theoretical numbers based on common research. Please consult your physician to determine if these numbers are best for you.
Maximum Heart Rate (Beats per Minute) = 220-Age
Maximum Fat Burn Zone = 60% of Maximum Heart Rate to 70% of Maximum Heart Rate
Maximum Cardio Benefit Zone = 70% of Maximum Heart Rate to 85% of Maximum Heart Rate
Danger Zone = 85% of Maximum Heart Rate to Maximum Heart Rate
